Refashion 101: What can you do with vintage scarves?

Edit: Please note that the ideas/pictures 3 to 6 are originally by Paula of The Vintage Scarf Blog, as credited on Vintage Adore's blog. For more great ideas and tutorials on refashioning your vintage scarves, The Vintage Scarf Blog is the place to go! ;-)

The creative ladies at Vintage Adore have put together a simple post on ideas of what you can do with your vintage scarves (don't be selfish and only let your neck get a piece of that vintage goodness everytime), and we're loooooooving it! <3>

Refashion 101: Shoes, shoes, shoes... omg, shoes!

Shoes, shoes, shoes, one can never have too many, right? :-P We love shoes so much, sometimes we get selfish and we wished only we could own that ONE SPECIAL pair that nobody else has! Grrrrr.... We're pretty sure that's how refashioning started out-- when people wanted each garment to be one of a kind, unique, and personal.

Michelle Masri of A Cuppa Tea (you might remember her from The Bouncing Bananas and Dwotties) did just that! She refashioned a pair of North Star flats into an artwork based around the theme of things she loves.

Before...

After! :-D

Ok we know they are different pairs coz one has straps and the other one doesn't, but yeah, just to illustrate what we mean hehe... Anyway, the good news is that Michelle takes custom orders! So you can turn these plain Jane Bata shoes...

"Why are you calling me a plain jane... :-( "

Into these gorgeous babies!

"Oohh I'm purrrrty! :D "

We love them! So if you've got nifty fingers, go ahead and experiment-- if not, don't worry... just go ahead and pop by A Cuppa Tea ;-)

Prices start from RM65 onwards

Refashion 101: Rescue them oversized tees

Is your cupboard full of oversized tees that you don't know what to do with? Well here's an idea: refashion them into baby tees/long tops!

The old Etsy labs blog has a super simple tutorial on how to do that, and without all the hassle of pining. All you need is a big tee, a stapler, basic sewing skills, and a friend. Please REMEMBER you need a friend to help you with this. An enemy might just staple your flesh and go "Oops, didn't mean to stapler you, tee hee hee". Man, that won't be fun.

Check out the tutorial here, and for more ideas head on to their new blog, Storque.

Don't have a sewing machine? You can always get one of these little hand sewing machines from the pasar malam at around 10 bucks or so, though we only recommend it for light sewing, it's quite a bit of a workout on the fingers hehe.
